Weekend Bowls Results

After a clean sweep last weekend Wynnum were looking to follow suit this Saturday. With the first round of the Summer Shield being played at home along side the Division 5 Premier 7’s team, our Division 3 Premier 7’s were away down the motorway at Robina.

The Premier 7’s results were a mixed bag. The 3’s were unsuccessful in their trip to Robina going down 2 rinks to 1. The pairs were successful with the singles and fours just falling short. Thank you to Robina for your hospitality.

Division 5 who were at home to Bramble Bay due to a last minute change of venue and time, came away with a 2 rink to 1 win. It was nearly a clean sweep with the singles going down by only 2 shots. Well played by all and we hope Bramble Bay had an enjoyable visit to the club.

Summer Shield kicked off for 2019 and with a few last minute changes to the teams Wynnum were able to come away with the overall win by a margin of 96 – 87 against Cleveland. With it going down to the wire in the last few ends of 2 of the rinks Wynnum were able to finish strong and get the points. A great game all the way and thank you for being great guests to our club Cleveland.

In the Club Championships Sunday there was one game of singles with Len Pryce coming away with a win. In the fours there were three games with the following teams being successful. Craig Johnston, Peter Lee, Robert Muir and Robert Sinnamon being the first. Matt Polietz, Kevin Flynn, Ernie Micaleff and Shannon Micaleff being the second team and finally Michael Smart, Don Maltby, Gary Johnson and Paul Carle being the third team.

Next week’s draw is up for both the Premier 7’s and the Summer Shield along with the Club Championships so get over Competitions section to see who is playing when and where.
